This Month's Tip:

DID YOU KNOW???

Lace is back!

Country décor, formal décor--whatever your choice--lace can add elegance to your home. Lace softens a room and creates a peaceful atmosphere.  Lace is romantic! To add more elegance, add tassels to curtains, especially for a Victorian look.

Vintage Lace, available at Dove’s Nest, is authentic hand-crocheted lace, made by women for women, and comes in white, ecru, green, red, wine, gold, and black. Vintage Lace is available in small to large rounds, ovals, & runners, and in several patterns (pinwheel, pineapple, shamrock).

Best of all, lace is affordable!

And did you know?  Lace is the traditional gift for a 13th wedding anniversary.

Here are some ways to use lace in your home:

  • Use lace ovals as placemats (they’re machine washable!)
  • Use on your table as centerpieces—in the center or as a runner
  • Use over the edge of bookshelves or curio cabinet shelves
  • Drape over your furniture (backs and arms of chairs and sofas)
  • Use on end tables, bookshelves, or mantels
  • Use lace curtain panels, then use a contrasting color swag, full length, over panels.

(Curtain panels not available at Dove’s Nest, though we do carry curtain swags)

  • Use a layer of lace (or an old lace curtain or lace tablecloth) across a bed mattress or  box spring to create a lace bed skirt
  • At Christmas, use a lace tablecloth as a tree skirt
  • To give a small lamp or object the appearance of being larger, use a larger lace doily underneath the item

When buying lace by the yard:

Be generous—the fuller the better (for a softer look)

Allow 1-1/4 to 3 times the window width

60” curtains work for 27-48” wide windows

For windows wider than 48 inches, uses two or more curtains

Come into Dove’s Nest to see our wide selection of Vintage lace.  They are hand-crocheted pieces that can be passed through the generations of your family. Use lace in your home for ambience and atmosphere.
