This Month's Tip:
DID YOU KNOW???
Soy-based candles are non-toxic, burn longer and cleaner, give off 90% less soot
and help our American farmers, since they are made from natural soybeans grown
in the USA.
Candles were invented a long time ago to light the world of our ancestors; their
sole purpose was the practical need for light. Today we can purchase candles
with scents and fragrances; we use them to celebrate special events, to
symbolize unity, hope, and romance, and for sacred services.
Dove's Nest would like to share some ideas with you that will enhance the way
you can use candles with your home décor:
Line tea lights up on a shelf (in fire-proof decorative containers) to help
illuminate your prized possessions or collections.
Put an inexpensive tea light holder and tea light at each place setting when you
entertain, then let guests take them home as favors.
Group pillar candles of various heights inside your fireplace hearth instead of
lighting a fire—especially nice in the warmer weather.
Outside on a patio or porch, fill large saucers with gravel or sand as a base,
then set a candle in the center.
During a power outage:
Pour table salt or kitty litter into a cup and place a sturdy candle in it.
Some information you may not have considered when using lighted candles:
*For the initial burn of your candle, allow it to burn until the melt
pool reaches the outer edge of the jar; this ensures the longest burning life.
*After this initial burn, allow your candle to burn no more than 4 hours
at a time for both safety reasons and for the longevity of your candle.
*Don’t forget to trim your wick to ¼” prior to each burn.
Candles are both beautiful and aesthetic; they can help create a mood in your
home.
