ANDY CERAMICS

Andy Ceramics is a small family owned workshop which makes original Polish pottery. This workshop is located just outside of Boleslawiec, Poland. Many of the designs have been created by Andy’s wife. The Artisans work very hard to produce high quality Polish Pottery products to meet the demands of their Unikat clients. Each piece is individually handcrafted and painted in detail. They also will custom create and modify a complete range of designs, styles, patterns, sizes, and colors for large orders.

From the very beginning, Andy has based its business on the outstanding, yet old traditions of the local potter in doing original Polish pottery under glaze stamp ornamentation. This is evident in the hand-formed dishes of the finest quality clays. They strive to connect the esthetic and the everyday-use elements into a great harmony. Each piece is a unique masterpiece (art of fire) due to its original and extraordinary form. Their products have been made popular due to the beautiful shapes, rich ornamentation, and being burned in very high temperatures, which guarantees impermeability, durability, and resistance to damage. The pottery is guaranteed to be microwave, oven, dishwasher, and freezer safe, as well as cadmium and lead free. A wide range of safe ecological glazes is used for ornamentation. They have a distinct look that separates them from other manufacturers. Their Polish pottery assortment is rich, sumptuous, and diverse.

AROMATIQUE

The Creator of Decorative Fragrance

Patti Upton, founder and President of Aromatique, gave birth to this company “just for fun” when a friend asked for a special decorative fragrance to be sold in her gift shop.  Patti called her creation The Smell of Christmas, and it turned into an overnight success; it remains the company’s flagship fragrance today.

Patti then began a new industry, that of decorative fragrance.  This is not the traditional collection of sweet smelling dried flowers known as potpourri, but a rich, full-bodied fragrance made from distinctive botanicals which are carefully and artfully arranged with a memorable scent. They are designed to serve as decorative accessories and are renewable with Refresher Oils and Room Sprays.

Aromatique also produces a wide variety of fragrance lines, including candles and decorative accessories.  Ms. Upton developed a new line known as “The Aromatique Bath” in 1991, assisted by the nation’s leading personal-products experts; in 2005 they introduced The Aromatique Spa line.

Aromatique products are produced by in-house artisans who design or choose each accessory piece and container.  Much of the work is done by hand, meaning individual attention to detail and superior quality. Their candle wicks are lead-free and made only of zinc-core or cotton fiber.

Patti Upton was the first to artfully combine visual elements with fragrance.  Aromatique is committed to philanthropic works and has used its money to help protect and preserve beautiful natural lands. Known for the quality of their fragrances, Aromatique knows that fragrance defines a person and a home.  So why not use the best products available from the leader of decorative fragrances?

Established in 2005, Brass and Silver Traditions provides excellent service and high-quality merchandise at reasonable prices.  They offer an extensive line of candle holders, chamber sticks, hurricane lamps, candelabras, trivets, bookends, bells, revere bowls, snuffers, sconces, candles and candle followers, specializing in both traditional and colonial designs.

Tabletop items include trivets, napkin rings, and serving items.  Their cocktail ware includes items from toasting flutes to ice tongs; their giftware includes bells of all sizes--in brass, lacquer, silver-plate with an anti-tarnish finish, machine-polished brass, and some in acid-etched bronze.  All bells are hand-cast and individually hand finished. They also offer paperweights, trinket boxes, and vases.  Their brass and silver-plated snuffers are copied from an Early American design and lacquered to eliminate polishing; their silver-plated snuffers have heavy plating over brass for a permanent shine.

Their Pineapple décor includes trivets, sconces, and bookends.  The pineapple, a symbol of hospitality and welcome, was a staple part of early Colonial day celebrations.  Affluent families served guests pineapple as a dessert; families unable to afford a pineapple could rent one for a small fee, then return it to be sold to a more affluent customer.

Whatever your decorating need, Brass and Silver Traditions can provide high quality, stylish items that are reasonably priced.

CAPE COD POLISH COMPANY

Everything Old is New Again

Caring for Your Fine Metals

Cape Cod Polish Company, Inc., is made on Cape Cod, USA and based in Dennis, Massachusetts.  W. B., founder of Cape Cod Polish Company, said, “After nearly 25 years of restoring antique metal objects and being less than pleased with the polishing procedure available, I began researching and formulating my own.  My goal was to make a moistened polishing cloth that would easily remove tarnish to a brilliant mirror shine without rubbing off excessive finish in the process. A pleasant aroma and an anti-tarnish protection were included in that goal.  I believe I succeeded.”

Cape Cod Polish cloths come in different packaging.  There is the ever popular and collectible tin filled with polishing cloths and gloves.  There is also a re-closable pouch containing the soft moistened cloths “with just the right amount of polish on them.”  These cloths clean and polish silver, gold, brass, copper, bronze, nickel, chrome, aluminum, pewter, and stainless steel.  They contain an anti-tarnish formula which makes the shine last longer.  In addition, they have a pleasant vanilla fragrance.  These cloths may be used over and over, however discolored.

CERAMIKA ARTYSTYCZNA (CA)

Ceramika Artystyczna, commonly known as CA, was founded in 1950 and has been making award winning stoneware for over 50 years. Their name, translated into English, means ceramic art. While all the ceramic factories in the Boleslawiec area produces beautiful pieces, the master ceramic artists employed by Ceramika Artystyczna produce exquisite designs and extraordinarily high quality pottery, especially the Unikat or Signature pieces. Ceramika Artystyczna has won numerous awards for artistic design and quality. This particular pottery is made of whiter, denser clan, and incorporates more intricate designs and shapes. The quality of Ceramika Artystyczna’s glazing is unsurpassed. The coffee pot with the Castle mark on the bottom of each piece, or the former mark of the Castle with a “B” on top, is the manufactures seal of authenticity. Most of CA’s workers are women, including the president, and many are graduates of the Wroclaw Academy of Fine Arts. The factory is a cooperative—all the profits are shared by the employees. Most manufacturers have class levels for their products. CA has: Standard or Traditional, “I” or Enhanced Traditional (more colors and details), Unikat (unique) U2 or Signature Level 2 (similar to an enhanced piece, but produced by a Master Artist and signed), Unikat U3 or Signature Level 3 (more detailed colors and craftsmanship), and Unikat U4 (Museum Quality Signature pieces, rare).

CA’s glazes are all state certified to be 100% lead free and cadmium free. In addition, the glaze quality and high temperatures at which the pottery is fired result in surfaces with very low porosity. Their products are oven, microwave, freezer, and dishwasher safe.

COLONIAL TRUST:

Fine Reproductions

A Brand Name of Foreign Advisory

Colonial Trust provides a complete selection of reproduction categories in historically important designs; the timeless beauty of historic brass and silver-plate items make them a classic line for gifts.  These products are hand-cast and hand-finished.  Every Colonial Trust candle holder, sconce, or decorative accessory is carved by hand in wood, then pressed into finely textured sand, creating a hollow mold.  A unique formula of molten brass is then poured into the mold to cast the duplicate shapes. The solid brass casting is hand-finished, then coated with a protective layer of durable lacquer to ensure years of tarnish-free use and enjoyment.  Items can simply be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth; polish or other abrasive cleaners will damage the lacquer finish.  Reproduction items include chamber sticks (used by colonists and sea captains), taper sticks (for sealing private envelopes with melted wax), and doorknockers.  Each item is packaged in a new, beautiful gift box with a small hang tag about the use and care of Colonial Trust’s fine brass.

COPPER CRAFT

American Made Brassware & Artifacts

Copper Craft was selected as the leading supplier of Brass Giftware for the eighth straight year, according to a national survey conducted annually by Giftbeat Magazine.  Copper Craft designs and manufactures almost all their brass products in their Topeka, Kansas facility.  Each design is hand-made, then individually polished and lacquered to preserve the finish for many years.  Cleaning requires only a soft, damp cloth—household cleaning products can damage lacquered brass finishes.

The Artifacts by Copper Craft are a recent addition to their product line.  These items are designed in their Kansas studio and manufactured overseas.  Individually hand-cast in resin and available in a variety of unique hand-painted, antique finishes, they have been well received.

Copper Craft recently announced plans to retire the company; therefore, their products are becoming more difficult to find and may end up being collectors’ items.

DANA

The Dana noble ceramics manufacturer was established in 1975. Dana Pottery is the only factory in Boleslawiec that continues to make their pottery completely by hand using the original traditional methods. No machines are used. All items are hand painted or hand stamped. Since their items are hand crafted, they may have slight imperfections. This is the original way Polish Potters and, in the 19th Century, German Artisans made them. These techniques are still used by Artisans at Dana’s workshop. This makes each item a unique piece of art.

DER ALTE QUILT SHOPPE

Located in Dundee, Ohio, Der Alte Quilt Shoppe is a small building filled with Amish made quilts, placemats, table runners, pot holders, wall quilts, table skirts and toppers, aprons, and various other hand sewn items as well as fabric, thread and other basic necessities for sewing.  It is run by Amish women who make some of the products for sale and who bring in other Amish products to sell.

Bed quilts are made in various sizes, but special orders are taken as long as the fabric is still available. It takes a couple of months for an experienced quilter to make the average King/Queen sized quilt.  Matching shams are sometimes available, but often must be ordered. These take only a month or so to make.

Der Alte Quilt Shoppe is located in a small building about the size of a two-car garage with no electricity or telephone service.  While the cashiers do speak English, their native language is a form of Old German.  They take great pride in their work and it shows.  Their stitching is good quality and the materials are heavy duty.  The intricacy of the designs shows great skill and creativity.  Most of their designs are conservative and have a special meaning.

product sample photoFENTON:

Handcrafted American Glass Artistry

A Century of Decorating Excellence

Fenton Glass Company was founded by two brothers, Frank L. Fenton and John W. Fenton; they pooled Frank’s $280 and John’s $4.80 in 1905 to launch a glass decorating business larger than their funds should have provided.  Several investors came aboard, and their brother Charles, an experienced glass decorator, joined them.  They purchased glass from nearby manufacturers and designed decorative motifs to be hand-painted on the glass.  Four young women who were experienced glass decorators were hired, and their work helped increase the company’s popularity.  Today, the family-owned and managed company is located near the Ohio River in Williamstown, West Virginia and produces glass in the USA handcrafted by skilled artisans.  Fenton glassware is collected worldwide, particularly their iridescent Carnival Glass.  Few occupations can match the romance and beauty of the glassblower’s art.  Glass is made by hand, using tools and techniques that have seen little change since Fenton Art Glass produced its first items in 1907.  Even items using cast iron moulds are first shaped by skilled glassblowers.

A HUNDRED PEARLS

Lumen Solis

Lumen Solis jewelry, distributed by A Hundred Pearls, is hand painted, fired in high temperatures, and set in either tin or silver and made in Poland.  The specific method used to manufacture their jewelry—fusing—makes their pendants, earrings, rings, and brooches unique and extraordinary.  Women who value originality, class, and refined style will be enchanted by the small works of illusion enclosed in this beautiful glass art.

The effect of their unique glass fusion makes the Lumen Solis jewelry shimmer with impressive colors and light like a mosaic and stained-glass piece all at the same time. These types of ornaments-on-glass are interwoven with light strokes of paint and elaborate clearings, combining sophistication and delicate abstraction.  This jewelry is also concrete, with small elements creating subtle, fine openwork design including filigree details intertwining so that convexity changes into concavity and vice versa.

Lumen Solis presents original jewelry especially in the realm of color.  Spreading pastel colors, hypnotizing depth, serious blues, lunar whites, browned cadmiums, delicate gildings, harsh reds, and the conscious use of contrast create quite an interesting display.

The Lumen Solis jewelry is a projection of talent and imagination for scrupulous collectors of both—motifs and their own fantasies.  They create a world born by geometry as well as by processed impressions resulting from observation of nature—a world ruled by mystery, whim, surprise, and a bit of melancholy of something elusive, given only to a dream dominated by expression of temperament and passion.

Pendants, earrings, rings, and brooches by Lumen Solis will certainly satisfy longings lying dormant in a woman’s being for beautiful objects.  These ornaments emphasize refined elegance and chic; reflecting individual style and personality, as well as, states of emotion.
